7 Essentials You Need For A Motorcycle Camping Trip

You don't need a big truck and an RV to go camping. If you're adventurous, you can fit everything you need on a motorcycle like the Street Bob. Then, you can hit the road and get into nature. Here are the essentials you need for a motorcycle camping trip.

1. Safety gear

Whether you're on a Street Bob or any other type of motorcycle, you need a helmet and a riding suit. But you also need to protect yourself from the sun with sunblock and a neck gaiter. Finally, you should bring bug repellant and a first aid kit.

2. Camping clothing

In addition to the clothes you want to wear while you ride, you need clothing for camping. Keep the weather in mind and pack warm clothes as needed.

Otherwise, focus on quick-drying clothing, and always bring extra socks. Wet feet are never good. To save space, consider packing things like pants that convert into shorts.

3. Rain protection

While camping and riding, you need to ensure that you and your stuff don't get wet. Bring a rain suit for riding. Make sure your tent is as waterproof as possible and bring a tarp for when you need instant protection from the rain.

4. Camping gear

Camping gear is unlimited, but when you're packing everything into a motorcycle bag, you need to pack light. The essentials you need include a small tent, a ground cloth to keep the tent off the ground, and a sleeping roll.

If desired, you can bring an inflatable mattress for extra comfort and a pillow. If you don't have room for a pillow, a pillow case stuffed with extra clothing can work perfectly.

5. Mess kit

Unless you're going to camp by restaurants, you need to bring a mess kit. Bring along your favorite shelf-stable foods. You can go with dehydrated meals or just cans and a can opener. You may also want to bring snacks and coffee. If you are planning to have a campfire, bring a firestarter.

6. Compass and maps

If you and your motorcycle head to remote areas, your phone service may not always work. Or perhaps, you want to disconnect and leave the phone at home. In either case, bring old-school paper maps and a compass to help you.

7. Camp towel and soap

Finally, so that you can get clean, you should bring along soap and a camp towel. A camp towel is a small lightweight, highly absorbent, and quick-drying towel. It saves space, but it does everything a full-size towel can do.
